The European Commission published its Work Programme for 2024. The document outlines the achievements of the last four years of the mandate and what remains to be done to realise the ambitions set for a stronger and more resilient Union and to prepare for the challenges of tomorrow.
The Work Programme has a strong focus on further easing the burden on business and streamlining reporting requirements, in line with the strategy to boost the EU's long-term competitiveness. Since 2023, the Commission has adopted 15 significant proposals that simplify and streamline reporting requirements, addressing stakeholders' concerns and without compromising policy objectives.
With the Work Programme 2024, the Commission has presented 26 more proposals to reduce administrative burdens without lowering social, safety, consumer protection, environmental or economic standards.
